Earlier in March, our Sonomatic team had the privilege of facilitating a MEC™ Technology Awareness session for Shell at our Dyce facilities.
We showcased our advanced Magnetic Eddy Current (MEC™) technology, a next-generation technique for rapid and reliable detection of defects in numerous applications such as flexibles, rigid pipes, pressure vessels, and tanks.
MEC™ offers high sensitivity in detecting internal and external corrosion, including isolated pits of very small diameter and volume, and cracking in flexible armour wires, without the need for coating removal and with minimal surface preparation.
Engaging with Shell’s team allowed us to demonstrate how MEC™ supports numerous types of inspection strategies, enabling efficient asset integrity management. The session highlighted MEC™’s capabilities in inspecting flexible risers, ensuring the continued safety and reliability of critical assets.
We extend our gratitude to Shell for their collaboration and to everyone who contributed to the success of the session. We’re committed to advancing inspection technologies that enhance safety, efficiency, and reliability in the energy sector.
