This NAIDOC Week, Sonomatic Australia, alongside Vertech, took time to reflect on the past, acknowledge the truth, and deepen our collective understanding by hosting a team screening of Wadjemup: Black Prison White Playground and a NAIDOC-themed quiz at our Perth Head Office.
The documentary explores Rottnest Island – known to many as a place of beauty and leisure, but also a site of deep cultural and spiritual significance for Aboriginal people, where hundreds of Aboriginal men are buried in unmarked graves – a painful legacy that remains largely unknown to many.
The lunchtime quiz encouraged our team to further engage with Indigenous history, culture, and resilience in an interactive way. Won by Sonomatic’s Andrew McGregor, he was gifted an Aboriginal children’s book, authored by Vertech’s very own tech, Sean McCann!
As we reflect on this year’s theme, we recognise that meaningful progress starts with truth-telling. We remain committed to listening, learning, and raising awareness across our teams and industry.
We encourage everyone to take a moment to engage with the stories and voices that continue to shape Australia.
