Sonomatic undertook risk-based assessment of 70 process pressure vessels located on a client’s North Sea offshore installations.

PROCESS
For each vessel, Sonomatic identified the materials of construction and reviewed the historical inspection records and process operating conditions in order to determine the likelihood of external and internal damage mechanisms occurring. The probability and consequences of failure were used to produce a risk ranking for each vessel.
OUTCOME
Inspection requirements and frequency of inspection were defined for each vessel so that the equipment could be assessed by the client for continued fitness for operation.
