2020 has seen many great successes for Geo Oceans, our team has spread their reach across the globe, we’ve celebrated our tenth anniversary, and unexpectedly won Subsea Energy Australia’s ‘Company of the Year’ award.
With these milestones at the front of our minds, we wanted to reflect on some of the previous innovations and achievements that helped us get to where we are today. Over the next several weeks we will be bringing you several major milestones from across the Vertech Group’s history
In 2017 Geo Oceans pioneered new subsea robotics technology on a floating offshore storage and offloading FPSO to complete their first diverless UWILD inspection. What was so remarkable about this inspection is that it resulted in significant cost saving and minimised health & safety risks.
This advanced inspection was completed using the Mini ROV CSS technology developed by Geo Oceans. This technology eliminated the use of commercial divers, work class ROVs and dive support vessels for the FPSO UWILD class inspection and enabled the facility to continue operation with minimal isolations and no production downtime.
This milestone was a key building block in our history. We learned many important lessons from this scope and three years later we are well known for providing the best and most efficient UWILD inspections on the market.
